A few words about

The department provides tuition both in compulsory and elective subjects in the field of mapping and the state land and real estate cadastre, cartography and cartographic polygraphy, photogrammetry, remote sensing, programming, and GIS.

The research activities of the department are focused on geographic information systems, application of remote sensing in thematic cartography, automation of geodetic data collection, and computer-aided cartographic production. The research also covers modern methods of presenting geodetic and cartographic information.

The department is equipped with a modern instruction and research laboratory for computing and graphic representation technology. Being used as a computer schoolroom, the laboratory covers the needs of the study branch Geodesy and Cartography. Further, the department is equipped with a photogrammetric, polygraphic and microfilm laboratory, used for the instruction in core and elective courses. An independent component of the department is represented by the remote sensing laboratory, extensively equipped with valuable instruments.
