At the Faculty, there are 9 computer rooms available for teaching, 23 computer rooms
aimed for teaching and self-study and a computer hall with 65 computer units
with extended operating hours (7:00-23:00 on week days, 9:00-19:00 on Saturdays and Sundays).
In computer rooms, there are nearly 500 PCs. The list of computer rooms is displayed
on the Faculty web sites. Despite high financial costs,
the Faculty is trying to keep the rooms in such condition to meet the demands of contemporary
application software.
All faculty students have access to the computer network. The user and e-mail accounts are
established for all Faculty students after their registration for study. The user account
allows its user to use the electronic mail services, to access the Internet network and
publish personal web sites. The Faculty user account also serves the Faculty students for
access to the IS CTU components, as well as to access specialized computer sources and
specialized application software programmes.
The operation in the electronic mail domain has been gradually transferred to the IMAP mail server,
accessible either via the web interface, or by a secured connection using standard mail protocols.
One of the tools contributing to the improved information level is an option of sending copies of the
Faculty electronic mail to external email accounts - all users may make changes on their own via
the web interface, at any time and from any place.
Another source of information on what is going on at the Faculty is the Faculty web site.
Apart from basic information on the Faculty, the Faculty www pages regularly publish information
from the Student Administration, the Doctoral Study Department, information from the International
Relations Department on students' study stays abroad and information from other specialized departments.
A number of Departments are actively involved in the Faculty website by editing their own web pages.
The Faculty website also includes a relatively wide set of instructions and facts on using the computer
network, the computer rooms and the information systems applied at FCE (study result records).
The Faculty also offers a possibility of using the services of the DTP workplace (printing, copying, binding),
there is a modern, well-equipped plotter centre offering possibilities of printing drawings of nearly
unlimited size (limited only by the paper roll size). There is a self-service printer and copier available
connected to the CTU printing centre (TINA).
The main public spaces provide a wireless network (WiFi) available for students as well as staff members.
