Professor Baabak Ashuri from the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU in Prague to discuss modern trends in building and infrastructure maintenance with local experts. The main topic of the meeting was the effective use of data and artificial intelligence (AI) for improved asset management.
The discussion welcomed Professor Michal Jandera from the Department of Steel and Timber Structures, Associate Professor Václav Nežerka from the Department of Physics, and Associate Professor Jan Valentin from the Department of Road Structures. A significant part of the debate was also dedicated to supporting the creation of university spin-off companies and sharing mutual experiences in the field of technology transfer.
The participants agreed that a closer link between academia and industry, along with the commercialization of research outputs, are key factors for innovation in modern civil engineering.
