The branch is part of the Master degree programme in Civil Engineering that aims to raise engineers fully qualified for complex design of buildings. It focuses in particular on concrete, steel, masonry or timber load-bearing structures, construction of foundations and structural dynamics. It allows a selection of projects and optional courses based on the student’s area of professional interest.
1,5 year
The Master degree programme raises fully qualified experts in the field of building structures. Being one of fundamental branches of Civil Engineering studies, it covers new trends in structural design for today’s advanced structural solutions. Students are expected to specialise in the field they like, but are also trained in comprehensive design of building structures.
The graduates of the branch of Building Structures will be employed primarily as:
The programme is organised to prepare the graduates to become members of the Czech Chamber of Chartered Engineers and Technicians.
The study is completed by the final project – Master´s Thesis in 3rd semester. The students register for the thesis at the department of their choice. The topics of the theses vary significantly. These may be design projects of a building, numerical or even experimental studies. Sometimes, students collaborate on research topics investigated by the Faculty. The research collaboration fully develops in subsequent doctoral degree study after graduation.
