The Prague´s Secondary Technical School of Civil Engineering in Dušní Street has become the first “Faculty Secondary School“

The Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague has its first “Faculty Secondary School.” It is the Prague´s Secondary Technical School of Civil Engineering in Dušní Street.

The Dušní Higher Vocational School of Civil Engineering (VOŠS) and Secondary Technical School of Civil Engineering (SPŠS) in Prague has been granted official status as a “Faculty Secondary School of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague.” This step confirms the long-term and successful cooperation between the two institutions opening new opportunities for students´ professional growth and personal development. The ceremonial signing of the cooperation agreement took place on November 21, 2025, with the participation of the management of both institutions. For the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague, this is the first “Faculty Secondary School” in its history.

The Faculty School status gives secondary school students at VOŠS and SPŠS Dušní the opportunity to become actively involved in professional projects, field trips, and research activities directly at the Faculty. Instruction provided directly by university teachers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague is a great experience for them as well. The established cooperation also facilitates their transition from secondary studies to university.

“We have been working in cooperation with VOŠS and SPŠS Dušní in teaching students for many years. Since 2022, it has been our Partner School, and I am very pleased that this successful and intensive cooperation is now advancing to a higher level of quality – the school is becoming a Faculty Secondary School. This allows us to further stimulate secondary school students to study civil engineering and architecture, especially at our faculty, strengthen their professional skills, and help them start their university studies. Our joint initiative thus contributes to supporting top-quality technical education and preparing a new generation of experts for both practical and academic environments,“ says Prof. Jiří Máca, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague.

PaedDr. Marie Plíhalová, the Headmistress of VOŠS and SPŠS Dušní in Prague, also appreciates the cooperation: “This step is a great honour for us. Thanks to it, our students not only gain access to modern laboratories, professional seminars, and lectures at the faculty, but above all, they are in direct contact with university teachers, whose high level of expertise and education is motivating and inspiring for them. In recent years, we have seen a significant increase in interest in studying at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague, which confirms the significance of this path.“
