Information for first-year students

Welcome as new users of the CTU network. For each student enrolled in the first year, an account in the Usermap system has been/will be created. This application is administered by CTU for all its faculties, and after you have acquired your first password, you will be able to access various CTU applications via your account.

How to acquire the first password

Your user name and CTU password will only be provided to you after the completion of your registration for study. After your registration has been processed, you will enter the password in the Usermap – First Password application by yourself. To be able to enter your password, you need to know the code of your application for study and control data (date of birth). The application form code is available to you from the entrance proceedings. It was also written in the first email which you received from the Faculty, this email confirmed the acceptance of your application form.

In exceptional cases, in the case of any problems, you can get a password straight away, but only after your registration for study again, at Administration of Accounts – e.g. if you studied at CTU before and the password from the past does not work.

As soon as you acquire your registration data, i.e. your user name and CTU password, you can do, among others, the following:

  • register at the CTU Information Portal
  • access the KOS (KOmponenta Studium – registrations, courses, grades) application
  • change your CTU password in Usermap (User profile -- Settings – CTU password settings)
  • enter the password for the Eduroam Wi-Fi network in Usermap (User profile -- Settings – Eduroam password settings)
  • check data filed at StavNet (Faculty intranet)

How to sign in

You sign in into most services (KOS, Usermap, StavNet ...) directly with your username (for example hulamil1) and the CTU password. However, some services require your user name with the @cvut.cz suffix (for example hulamil1@cvut.cz). Although it looks like an e-mail address, it's not an e-mail address. The suffix @cvut.cz only informs the service (for example Microsoft Teams) that you belongs to the CTU organization.

E-mail addresses

In your application for study at CTU, you entered and successively verified your personal e-mail address. This address is now filed with the Usermap system and is sufficient for getting you through the study. Carefully consider creating one of the addresses described below. By creating them, you will be obliged to actively use them and in the foreseeable future the possibility of redirecting them will be denied.

If you are interested, you can get a student e-mail address @student.cvut.cz and, together with it, the Office 365 mailbox. It is an automated process within the Usermap application (User profile -- Settings -– E-mail address settings -– Request CTU e-mail address). The @student.cvut.cz accounts are maintained by CTU centrally, for all faculties. You can find on page IST - E-Mail services how to access the mailbox.

You can also ask for the Faculty e-mail address in the form firstname.lastname@fsv.cvut.cz. It is a manual process and you must give a reason for your request. Enter your requests at HelpDesk (Create -- Project: FSv_VIC_Hlášení problémů a požadavků). With your address, you will acquire an IMAP account on the Faculty mail server.

If you have more e-mail addresses, select one as the preferred address in the Usermap application. All CTU and FCE automated systems will communicate with you via this address.

Where else should I go?

We recommend reading the IST – I am a Student page. You can find there further information about the user account and password, and also e.g. information about student ID cards, software downloads available to students, data saving and sharing, financial credits, accommodation and food.

You can also visit the Faculty Data Storage (in Czech) page where you can read how to connect to the data storage from home.

When it does not work

The computer network running, Faculty e-mail addresses and data storages are managed by FCE ITC (in Czech) (IT Centre). Please report technical problems to HelpDesk (Create -- Project: FSv_VIC_Hlášení problémů a požadavků).

If you cannot register or have another problem, contact personally Administration of Accounts (in Czech).
