Exceptional Measures for the verification of study results in the examination session of the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.
Pursuant to Act
No. 188/2020 Coll., on special rules for education and decision-making at higher education institutions in 2020 and on the assessment of the period of study
for the purposes of other acts, emergency restrictive measures in force adopted by the Czech Government, respective Ministries and other organs to mitigate
the risks of infection by coronavirus disease, The Rector´s Order No. 9/2020 on the organization of study and implementation of examinations at CTU in connection
with the restrictive measures for the mitigation of risks of infection by coronavirus disease and methodological instructions of the CTU Vice-Rector for Bachelor and
Master Degree Study, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague hereby announces exceptional measures for the verification of study results in the
examination session of the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.
1. Credits and Classified Credits
- The verification of study results taking the form of a credit or a classified credit will be exclusively organized in a distance format:
- based on attendance in contactless teaching
- based on individual student´s work (A specific type of individual student´s work is an on-line test.)
- The dates and the procedure of handing in student´s assignments is specified by the course guarantor in collaboration with the Head of the Department
which organizes teaching in the respective course.
- If a student is unable to hand in the personally elaborated work, the teacher shall allow them an individual way of submitting it.
2. Examinations
- Examinations will be organized in a distance format using, to a maximum possible extent, the following options
- video dialogues for oral examinations (via the recommended MS Teams application),
- testing via electronic platforms for written examinations (Moodle or MS Teams are recommended),
- combination of the above options.
In the courses where possible and effective, a direct examination can be replaced by completing personally assigned individual work.
- The courses that can be examined in a contact format have been specified by the Dean and are listed in an Annex to this Measure.
- The public health guidelines currently in force apply to contact examinations.
- The course guarantor and the Head of the respective Department are jointly responsible for the organization of examinations in a contact format and following
all public health and safety guidelines.
- Contact examinations will be centrally scheduled, they can run from 25. 5. to 3. 7. 2020 and from 31. 8. to 18. 9. 2020.
- The examination method is obligatory for the whole examination session. In justified cases, a student may ask the Dean (through the FCE Student Administration)
for an individual change in the examination format.
- If a student is unable to participate in the specified examination format for objective reasons (e.g. technical problems, health related reasons or
a complicated life situation due to the coronavirus crisis), the student may ask the Dean (through the FCE Student Administration) for an individual
extension of the examination session until the end of the examination session of the winter semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
- Due to the fact that the verification method of study results is exceptionally being changed in the examination session of the string semester of the 2019/2020
academic year, I hereby extend students the possibility of cancelling their registration for courses in the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year pursuant
to conditions specified in The Dean´s Measure No. 9/2020 up to 7. 5. 2020.
3. Final Graduation Examinations
- Final graduation examinations (hereinafter FGE) will be organized, to a maximum possible extent, in a contact format, a semi-contact format
is allowed by the Dean on request by the Head of Department. In justified cases, a student may individually ask the Dean (through the FCE Student
Administration) to change the FGE format to a distance format.
- FGE will be public, provided a limit of 15 persons in a room is not exceeded. Should this limit be exceeded, FGE will be held excluding the public.
Pursuant to par. 1 §5 of Act on special rules for education and decision-making at higher education institutions in 2020, a sound or video recording
of the FGE proceedings will be made, which will be filed at the Department organizing FGE for a period of 5 years.
- I hereby amend Article 6 par. 2 of The Dean´s Directive No.4/2019 on the Implementation
of Bachelor and Master Degree Study Programmes Organized at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague as follows:
The Boards for the defence of final graduation theses need not comprise a prominent expert, who is not employed by CTU, as a member.
- Oral examinations in thematic areas and the defence of the final graduation thesis can be held together for the respective branch of study, with the same Board
and on the same date. The Examination Board must comprise the examiner for the respective thematic area to whom the student registered as a member.
- The student will learn the result of the examination immediately after the examination is over and shall not stay in the Faculty building any longer without
a reason. There will be no common opening and closing ceremony.
- The public health and safety guidelines currently in force must be followed during the examinations. The Head of the Department which organizes FGE is responsible
for following the public health and safety guidelines.
The Measure comes into force on the 30th April 2020.
