The aim of the bachelor study programme in Civil Engineering is to raise experts in the wide-ranging field of civil engineering for construction practice.

Characteristics:

  • Study programme covering fundamental tasks of civil engineering
  • Focused on complex design of building structures including load-bearing and non-load bearing structures, building services systems, technology of construction, etc.
  • Details of building components but also buildings in a broader context of civil engineering
  • Three-week internship in a civil engineering company

Structure of study:

The first two years of the four-year Bachelor degree programme offer, for the most part, fundamental sciences and basic professional courses. More specialised courses and design projects are included in the plan of the second half of the Bachelor degree programme, where some of the courses are selected by the students themselves based on their professional focus. Students can also enrol in other elective courses from the faculty-wide offer of specialized subjects, foreign language training, etc. The study is completed by the final project - Bachelor´s thesis defended in the 8th semester of study.

Career prospects:

The graduates of the Civil Engineering programme will be employed primarily as: - designers of building structures
- designers in building services engineering
- concrete, steel, timber and masonry structural designers
- construction managers
- in the development and testing of building materials
The programme is organised to prepare the graduates to eventually become members of the Czech Chamber of Chartered Engineers and Technicians.
