An hour before the race, Anežka participated in the final of the 500 m race, where, unfortunately, she did not do very well. Therefore, she did not enter the 1-kilometre race in an ideal mood either. The race was not going well at all in the beginning, and, in the middle of the course, she was almost the last out of the finals. “In the second half of the race, I decided to work myself to the bone and fought my way to second place,” says Anežka Paloudová.

This is the Czech kayaker’s first title as the Under 23 World Vice-Champion and her second medal overall. The first medal Anežka won was bronze in 2019. “The race means a lot to me, last December I tore my biceps tendon and struggled with this injury all spring long. Thanks to this result and the whole 2021 season, I can see that my performance is improving and I am getting more and more close to the world’s best kayakers, as is the whole Czech sprint canoeing” adds Anežka.
