ELSA: FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS

ELSA: FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS

Students and applicants for study with specific learning disabilities, ADHD, the autistic spectrum disorder, mental disorders or diseases, or with serious chronic diseases, with specific needs arising from their visual, hearing impairment or locomotor disability are entitled to a modification of the course of entrance examinations and a modification of the type of study.

The ELSA Centre provides support to these students and applicants for study. Its staff can be addressed for advice in choosing the right study programme and during the whole study at university. 

The ELSA Centre’s offer includes, e.g. testing in the case of suspected learning disorders such as dyslexia or dysgraphia, training of study strategies, ensuring increased time for tests, conversion of study literature into digital files for use by reading software, hiring sign language interpreters for lectures, etc. ELSA also has different technical equipment and special software available that may be borrowed by students with specific needs to make their studies easier.

CIPS: FOR INFORMATION ABOUT CTU AND PROBLEM SOLVING

CIPS, The CTU Centre for Information and Counselling Services, provides both complex information about the whole CTU and also serves as support in solving study, personal, family and legal problems. It also organizes events for students focused on personal development. CIPS provides psychological counselling for foreign students. CIPS services for CTU students are free of charge. 

CAREERS CENTRE: PERSONAL GROWTH AND CAREER PATH

The Careers Centre, CC, provides CTU students with possibilities for their personal growth, teaches them soft skills and other skills which they do not acquire during professional lectures, but need on a daily basis. The CC’s objective is to support students in what they really want, what they know, what they enjoy and what makes sense to them. It helps them to discover their strengths and weaknesses and find ways of further personal development.

Among the services provided by the Careers Centre, there is:

  • career counselling (where to aim, strengths and weaknesses, style and efficiency of work)
  • personal counselling (CV, motivation letter, preparation for an interview)7
  • personal development library
