Martin Landa’s story

Ing. Martin Landa, Ph.D.

Department of Geomatics, Assistant Professor

The fund resources were used within activity: Support for short-term international cooperation between a young researcher at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague and prestigious foreign experts

What is your project focused on?

The project’s objective is to develop an original, web-oriented, modular system (“Geo-Harmonizer”) designed to store and share geographical data with a thematic content covering the territory of Continental Europe.

What countries are involved in it?

The Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

How much time should the project take?

The project has been planned for 3 years, i.e. until the middle of 2022.

 What is its planned output?

Within its framework, we want to create a web-oriented system providing selected thematic areas of geographical data (land cover, environmental quality, etc.).

You decided to use, among others, the Faculty Initiation Fund to implement it.  How did you get to know about it and what did you decide to use the fund for?

We obtained information about the fund from colleagues at the Department of Geomatics. The funds obtained from the Initiation Fund enabled us to invite a prestigious expert to our Faculty.

How much money did you get from the programme and who came in particular?

We received CZK 20 thousand, thanks to which Dr. Markus Neteler, an expert in eco-health, biodiversity, GIS and Earth observation was able to visit the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague. His visit, accompanied by a lecture for our students and staff, successfully launched cooperation with the Mundialis Company (Germany) on the Geo-Harmonizer project.
