INTEGRAL SAFETY

The study in this program is subjected to tuition fees charged.

The doctoral degree programme cultivates experts who are cable of facing current and emerging challenges in the field of people’s and building safety, identifying and developing progressive solutions with the use of the latest scientific findings and implementation of advanced simulation and experimental research methods.

Features

  • The educational model is based on a holistic and systems approach – complex safety solutions are centred on the integration and classification of knowledge in the respective field, a deep understanding of the nature of various types of mathematical models and experimental methods and their mutual relationships.
  • Students acquire a broad overview of scientific theory fundamentals in the testing, development, modelling and applications of both new and traditional materials and structural members in the construction industry.
  • The practical and experimental part of studies builds on research using the latest experimental instruments, methods and technologies.
  • Emphasis is put on nurturing students’ competence in obtaining information from international sources of scientific information and improving their presentation and publishing skills in English throughout their studies.

KNOWLEDGE ACROSS SAFETY ISSUES

Safety  establishes the quality of life and, at the same time, is an indicator of the overall refinement of a society. The study programme has been conceived to develop thinking and lifelong learning in the field of safety and construction related issues with a focus on modern modelling methods. The core of instruction is a comprehensive overview of studied issues, with an emphasis on the state-of-the-art technology in the field, including broader cultural and environmental contexts, the knowledge of artistic, ecological and political science disciplines relevant to safety practice. The research itself focuses on the specific safety area of rapidly developing practices of sustainable construction, the use of renewable resources and energy and modern industries with a high level of automation and conservation of cultural, historical and architectural heritage.

The graduates of the Integral Safety programme will find employment in many fields of professional practice, in science and research, state administration or education:

  • senior and managerial positions in the area of safety in construction and manufacturing companies,
  • conceptual and development experts in industrial companies and design and consulting firms,
  • researchers and developers in the area of safety in research centres, institutes and specialized departments of companies,
  • managers in the state sector: Fire and Rescue Service, Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and state administration,
  • teachers at universities and safety training institutes,
  • specialists in companies involved in the development of simulation software,
  • authorized engineers competent to solve highly demanding design tasks requiring non-standard and advanced design procedures.
