Research into Nasca Lines and Geoglyphs

Research into Nasca Lines and Geoglyphs

Experts from the Department of Geomatics, together with specialists from HTW Dresden and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, are conducting research into the lines and geoglyphs on the Nasca Plain in Peru. The Faculty team led by prof. Karel Pavelka has used, for example, photogrammetry, where the surface was analysed with the help of aerial photographs, targeted flights over the pampas and photographs from drones or terrestrial measurements. Likewise, satellite remote sensing, GNSS methods, and other scientific procedures were applied, too. The objective was to scientifically document and describe the lines and geoglyphs in the Nasca and Palpa areas, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
